About CaseWalk

What is CaseWalk?

CaseWalk turns real, documented true-crime cases into guided audio walking tours. You pick a city, open a case, and walk the actual public locations tied to the crime while podcast-quality narration starts automatically at each stop — hands-free, with your phone locked. Each case unfolds in chapters: where it began, what happened, the investigation, the trial, and the aftermath.

Are the cases real, and are they accurate?

Yes — every case is a real, documented one. Cases are built from public court records, contemporary news reporting, and published histories, and human fact-checked before we call anything verified. We aim to get the facts right; if you spot an error, tell us and we'll review it.

Is it respectful, or is it gory and sensational?

It's made in the register of a prestige documentary — measured, factual, and restrained. Victims are treated as people first: no gore, no glamour, no lurid detail for its own sake. The aim is to understand a case and the places it touched, not to sensationalise it.

How long is each case, and how does it work?

A case is a walk of about 15 to 60 minutes on foot through the real, public locations tied to it. You walk at your own pace, and the narration for each stop plays as you arrive, so the story follows the ground you're standing on.

Which languages does CaseWalk support?

CaseWalk narration is available in English, Spanish, French, Dutch, and German. You choose the language you'd like to listen in.

On the walk

Do I need headphones and an internet connection?

Headphones make for the best experience but aren't required. You need a connection to download a case the first time. Once it's downloaded, you can walk it with no signal at all.

Can I use CaseWalk offline?

Yes. Download a case before you head out and its narration, map, and images are stored on your device, so the whole walk works offline. You can keep several downloaded cases ready at once.

How does the hands-free narration work?

With location permission granted, CaseWalk detects when you reach each stop — even with your screen locked — and starts that stop’s narration automatically. No tapping, no fiddling, just walking and listening. See how location is used in our Privacy Policy.

Is it safe, and am I visiting anything private?

Every stop on a case is a real, public location — streets, squares, and landmarks anyone can visit. Walk with your own judgement: obey local laws and traffic, respect any private property nearby, and stay aware of your surroundings.

Cities, pricing & availability

Which cities and cases are available?

CaseWalk is a curated catalog of documented cases, organised by city. We add cities and cases over time rather than covering everywhere at once, so the catalog grows as more cases are researched and fact-checked.

How much does it cost?

Your first walk is free. After that you can buy a credit to unlock a single case forever, or go All-Access for every case in every city — unlimited and offline, billed monthly or yearly, cancel anytime. The current price and terms are always shown in the app at the point of purchase. See our support page for how purchases work.

Where can I get CaseWalk, and which devices does it run on?

CaseWalk is out now on the App Storeand runs on iPhone. It’s free to download, and your first walk is free, with no account needed. An Android version isn’t available yet.

Do you make any other walking-tour apps?

Yes. PodWalk, by the same maker, does self-guided audio walking tours of anywhere on Earth: you name a place and it generates a narrated route on the spot. Same hands-free playback, no true crime, just history, architecture and local stories.
